The TED11 WebCast was an unprecedented 30+ hour WebCast of the TED11 Conference held in Monterey CA, in February of 2001.The WebCast was of the highest quality, at a 512x384 pixel resolution, and also offered at only a 2-3 hour delay from the actual show. One of the most interesting parts of the project was working with Apple Computer's Quicktime group, Media100, and Earthlink. From the start we set the goal to do the project with "off-the-shelf" commercially available components, and then make the entire process part of the TED11 show. We put the entire setup (approximately six PowerMac G4s) in an open room, and encouraged the Conference attendees to watch the process. |
